Sister M. Karen (Frances) Wilson died at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. on Nov. 24, 2016. Born on Nov. 9, 1935, in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Paquette) Wilson. She became a naturalized citizen in June 1959 in Lewisburg, Pa.
Sister Karen attended elementary school in Montreal, Canada, and Ginter Park and Chandler Junior High in Richmond, Va. From 1949-53 she attended Bishop England High School, Charleston, S.C. After graduating from Saint Cyril Academy, Danville, she entered the novitiate on Aug. 3, 1955 and was professed on Aug. 6, 1957.
In addition to teaching elementary school in Indiana and Pennsylvania, Sister Karen was a nurse. She earned her LPN at Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Norristown, RN at Gwynedd-Mercy College and BSN at Bloomsburg University. She served in the congregation’s buy xanax health care facilities at Villa Saint Cyril, Highland Park, Ill., where she was Director of Nursing from 1987-88 and Maria Joseph Manor, Danville. Sister Karen also served on the nursing staff of Saint Stanislaus Rehab Center, Nanticoke, and at Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston, SC. She was the school nurse at Saint Cyril Academy and had nursing responsibilities at Saint Methodius Convent, Danville.
Missioned to Sacred Heart parish in Lewisburg, Sister Karen acted as Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Assistant. She served as an assistant in the Finance Office at the Motherhouse for the last 15 years.
Sister Karen is survived by a sister, Nancy Murray, and her husband Laurence, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and a niece, Louise Motamedi, and nephew, Lauren, also of Canada.
