Faith and generosity were the cornerstones for the founding of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

Father Matthew Jankola’s dream as a young pastor was to organize a religious congregation of women to meet the educational needs of children of Slovak immigrants who were rapidly arriving in the coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 1903, Father Jankola met with other Slovak immigrant priests to establish the Priests’ Treasury of Saint Anthony, a fund that provided education to the first Sisters—mostly daughters of poor immigrants. That fund made it possible for the Congregation to begin its important work.

For over a century, the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius have been able to meet their mission of evangelization, education, elder care and ecumenism thanks to the loyal generosity of supporters like you.
